Empty Bowls Project
A couple of weeks ago, students in grade 9 in from Cariboo Hill Secondary School, that were in an art class were learning about hunger and poverty. Of course, they didn’t just listen to lectures and read books, they had detailed conversations about their favorite foods, how to reduce hunger and poverty, and they also made bowls to raise awareness about hunger. In fact, one student made such a nice bowl and it was even auctioned off for charity, also a popular artist in Vancouver named Suzy Bernstein came to C.H.S.S. and had showed the grade 9s how to make a good bowl. After she left some other grade 9s painted her bowls and set them off for auctioning. This goes to show that how children are being taught an issue and the children need to know about poverty/hunger.
